Who am I?
I have a PhD in Clinical Psychology and have worked across a number of public and private healthcare settings, where I have had experience working with complex and diverse mental health issues amongst adults of all ages. I am an AHPRA-registered and endorsed Clinical Psychologist, and a board-approved supervisor. I am committed to professional development, which involves regular supervision and ongoing training.
How do I work?
While diagnostic labels can convey something about your particular challenges, they fail to capture the complexities of your experience—no two people are alike. I am interested in working with you to discover what it is that you need to live a fulfilling life, whatever shape that may take. This might involve reducing the impact of symptoms, developing insight into the origins of your thoughts, feelings and behaviour, making sense of past experiences, clarifying what is important to you and who you are, and taking action that will lead you in the right direction.
My approach is largely psychodynamic in nature, informed by the understanding that early life experiences and unconscious processes shape how we relate to ourselves and to others in the present. I am trained in a number of therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), schema therapy, and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). This allows me to take an integrative approach where this may be appropriate. Overall, I aim to provide a therapeutic space that is compassionate, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and welcoming to those from all walks of life.
